Middlesboro is built entirely within a meteorite impact crater which is 3.6 miles across. The city is known for some of its popular attractions. These include the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park, Pinnacle Overlook, and Middlesboro Mall. It was founded by a English land company in the 1880’s and named for Middlesborough, England.
