Live Video Solar Storms Sun Aurora
Watch the live HD aurora video of Solar Storms happening right now on the sun.
A solar cycle is a sequence that the Sun’s magnetic field goes through every 11 years, where the field flips. Throughout that process, it produces solar storms. An increase in solar activity has been linked to effects on Earth, such as auroras and impacts on communications as well as electrical grids. During a solar storm, solar radiation storms occur when a large-scale magnetic eruption, often causing a coronal mass ejection and associated solar flare, accelerates charged particles in the solar atmosphere to very high velocities. Particles such as protons get accelerated to large fractions of the speed of light. (NOAA.GOV)
