The Oroville Dam stands more than 770 feet high and is the tallest dam in the United States. In 2021, Lake Oroville water levels dropped to historic lows, but have since recovered really well so far in 2022.

Oroville Dam Water Level Updates
01/25/23 – Following three weeks of some of the most treacherous weather California has seen in recent history, Lake Oroville Water Levels are well above the seasonal averages. Located in northern California, Lake Oroville is the state’s second largest reservoir. The atmospheric river that brought excessive rain and snow to the region has risen Lake Oroville water level by over 90 feet.
In September 2021, Lake Oroville water levels dropped to the lowest levels at 628.47 feet. On January 25, 2023 the water levels are now at 801.55 feet above sea level.
Camping at Lake Oroville
Lake Oroville offers more than 167 miles of shoreline with several different options for camping. There are 10 Floating Campsites at Lake Oroville. The floating camp sites (1-3,5,6) are near Bidwell Canyon Marina and the Spillway and Loafer Creek boat launch ramps. Camp site 4 is on the North Fork of Lake Oroville, and is the closest site to Lime Saddle. Finally, sites 7 & 10 are located east of the Bidwell Bar Bridge/Highway 162 near the Enterprise boat launch ramp.

In addition to the Floating Campsites, this huge lake in Butte County, CA offers Boat In Campgrounds as well. The Foreman Creek Campground has 26 campsites. Craig Saddle offers another 18 campsites, with Goat Ranch and Bloomer Knoll each offer 5 camp sites. Finally, there’s Bloomer Point that offers 25 sites.
