Live Gothic, Colorado

Gothic was a mining town supported by the region’s silver mines. An 1879 explosion in the area spread strands of “wire-silver” into the fields, attracting prospectors. It peaked in the late 1800’s with about 1000 locals, and boasted its own U.S. Post Office between 1879 and 1896. Crested Butte borders Gothic. This camera is brought to you by naturalist Billy Barr. The mountains in this town has a peak elevation of 12,631 ft.
