More about Gibraltar

Originally from the Atlas Mountains and the Rif Mountains of Morocco, the Barbary macaque population in Gibraltar is the only wild monkeys population there. Also, the flag of Gibraltar is simply an elongated banner of the arms, which is based on the Coat of Arms of Gibraltar granted by Royal Warrant from Queen Isabella of Castile in 1502. Pounds sterling is the currency in Gibraltar. The population is around 33,000.

One of the main attractions is the Rock of Gibraltar. This large limestone rock stands tall and offers stunning views of the sea and land. Visitors can take a cable car or hike to the top. It is also home to the famous Barbary macaques, which are wild monkeys that play and roam freely. Seeing these monkeys is a fun experience, and many people enjoy taking pictures with them.

Another great place to explore in Gibraltar is St. Michael’s Cave. This cave is found inside the Rock and features beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. People can walk through the cave and see amazing rock formations that look like art. Sometimes, the cave is also used for concerts because of its unique and beautiful acoustics. This underground wonder is a cool escape from the sun and a must-see for visitors of all ages.

The Great Siege Tunnels are also a fascinating part of Gibraltar’s history. These tunnels were dug during a long conflict in the 18th century and show how people lived and defended the area. Visitors can walk through the tunnels and learn about the history of Gibraltar.
